Florida State Requirements

Florida does not require a prescription or doctor's order for a DNA paternity test. Under Florida Statute 742.10, paternity can be established by a voluntary acknowledgment signed under penalty of perjury and either notarized or witnessed by two people, or through the Florida Department of Revenue's administrative process, which can arrange genetic testing and issue an Administrative Order of Paternity carrying the same legal weight as a court order. For a result to hold up in a Florida court, the test must be performed by an accredited laboratory with a completed chain-of-custody form, so samples are collected at a certified site and everyone tested presents government ID.
